This monumental Imperial Stout undergoes a meticulous double-maturation process exclusively in Artifact Bourbon Barrels, resulting in an olfactory landscape dominated by intense whiskey, Madagascar vanilla, and toasted coconut. Built upon the decadent Vibes base recipe, the liquid displays an extraordinary depth of bittersweet chocolate and espresso. The extended contact with fresh charred oak imparts a layered complexity where spirit-forward notes interlace with dark fruit esters of prune and raisin. It is a harmonious, velvety masterpiece that balances its immense 15% ABV with a lush, viscous body, finishing with a lingering, warming complexity of spirit-soaked oak and cocoa.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It pours with a thick, deep tan to mocha-colored head; retention is moderate to low, quickly receding to a persistent ring. High viscosity is evident through prominent legs and staining of the glass.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and black licorice. The double-barrel aging is front and center, providing rich bourbon, charred oak, and heavy vanilla. Distinctive coconut notes emerge alongside dark fruit esters of figs and raisins, all enveloped in a smooth, spirit-like warmth.
Taste. An intense initial impression of dark chocolate and roasted coffee is immediately followed by layers of bourbon-soaked oak. The Artifact Bourbon Barrels contribute massive vanilla and coconut flavors. Bitterness is moderate to high but well-balanced by a rich, malty sweetness. The finish is long and complex, featuring lingering notes of cocoa, dark fruit, and a pleasant, warming whiskey character without being harsh.
Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied with a thick, chewy, and syrupy texture that is exceptionally luscious. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant but smooth alcohol warmth is present, providing a gentle glow that complements the velvety mouthfeel.
