This monumental American Strong Ale is a masterclass in blending, merging the deep, toffee-driven intensity of Rye Barrel-Aged Barleywine with the obsidian richness of Double Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout. Extensive aging of 18 to 64 months in Rum and Bourbon Barrels imparts layers of vanilla, toasted coconut, and dark molasses. The presence of M.J.K. provides a sturdy, oxidized fruit character reminiscent of dates and figs, while the Belgian-style Quad component adds a subtle spicy complexity. Expect a viscous, warming experience where the spirit-soaked oak balances a decadent malt backbone of chocolate and caramel, finishing with a lingering, spirited depth that transcends its classification.

Appearance. Deep mahogany to nearly opaque dark brown (35+ SRM); a thin, mocha-colored head forms briefly with low retention; prominent legs coat the glass due to high alcohol and sugar content.

Aroma. High intensity; complex aromas of dark caramel, toffee, and dark chocolate from the malt. Significant barrel character presents as bourbon, spiced rum, vanilla, and charred oak. Distinctive dark fruit esters of raisin, fig, and plum are evident, with a subtle spicy rye and molasses background.

Taste. Initial impression is exceptionally rich and malty. Deep flavors of toffee, molasses, and dark chocolate are supported by the spice of the Rye Barrel-Aged Barleywine. Medium-high bitterness is present but largely balanced by the massive residual sweetness. Notes of vanilla, toasted wood, and dried fruit linger into a warm, bittersweet finish with a noticeable but smooth spirituous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and highly viscous with a coating, syrupy texture. Carbonation is low. Significant alcohol warmth is present but integrated, providing a soothing chest-filling sensation without being sharp or solventy.
