Sibeeria Lost In Transit
IPA - India Pale Ale 5.3 º
Lost in Transit is a vibrant Session Rye IPA born from a collaboration between Sibeeria and Barona. Built upon a crisp foundation of floor-malted pilsner malt, the inclusion of rye adds a distinctive peppery complexity and a lean body perfect for summer festival drinking. The hop profile is a trans-oceanic showcase: Chinook provides a firm, resinous pine and grapefruit bitterness, while Amarillo contributes bright orange zest and stone fruit. The addition of Nelson elevates the profile with sophisticated notes of white wine and crushed gooseberry. Crystal clear and assertively bitter, it finishes bone-dry with a lingering, spicy hop character.
Appearance. Pale gold to light amber (SRM 4-7); brilliant clarity with no haze. Forms a medium, persistent white head with fine bubbles and excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring resinous pine and grapefruit from Chinook, orange zest from Amarillo, and a distinct vinous, gooseberry note from Nelson. Supported by a moderate bready, grainy-sweet malt scent and a notable spicy, peppery rye character. Clean fermentation with no esters.
Taste. Initial bready sweetness from the floor-malted pilsner malt is quickly overtaken by a sharp, peppery rye spice. Hop flavors are prominent, showcasing citrus peel, resinous pine, and white grape. Firm, clean bitterness (approximately 50 IBU context) dominates the mid-palette. The finish is very dry and crisp with a lingering bitterness and spicy rye aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. The rye contributes a subtle, characteristic silkiness to the texture despite the beer's overall dryness. Very refreshing with no perceptible alcohol warmth and zero astringency.

Knowing that we’ll be pouring beer with the guys from Barona on ArtBeerFest in Caminha, we wanted to brew a proper summer festival beer. Easy-going, bitter and fruity, Lost in Transit refers to the difficult journey beer needs to take while moving between Portugal and Czechia. (if it eventually makes it to the western coast of Europe in time), both the festival-goers and the rest of the European crowd should be treated to the trans-Pacific combo of Chinook, Amarillo and Nelson on a drinkable platform of floor-malted pilsner malt with rye. Clean and bitter, with all the fruity notes we tend to enjoy on a sunny day, this one should hit the spot.
