Friends From Outer Space is a vibrant Hazy IPA that showcases a masterful interplay of tropical and citrus notes. The core of its character is driven by a heavy-handed addition of Cryo Simcoe, which delivers concentrated layers of passion fruit, resinous pine, and bright grapefruit. A bespoke yeast blend enhances the aromatic depth with stone fruit esters, while a meticulously adjusted water profile results in a remarkably smooth, velvety texture. This medium-full bodied beer balances its intense hop saturation against a soft, bready malt backdrop, finishing with a gentle bitterness that invites another sip of its clean, juicy profile.
Appearance. Straw to light orange-amber (SRM 4-6) with an opaque, uniform haze that creates a characteristic shine. It supports a medium-sized, rocky, white head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of passion fruit, mango, and grapefruit zest. The Cryo Simcoe provides a subtle resinous pine undertone. Neutral, grainy-sweet malt resides in the background, complemented by moderate stone fruit esters from the yeast blend.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor mirroring the tropical and citrus aroma. Malt flavor is low to medium-low, providing a soft, bready foundation without any caramel or toast. Bitterness is low to medium-low and exceptionally smooth, never harsh. The finish is soft and off-dry with a lingering juicy hop impression and clean fermentation profile.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, velvety texture derived from the specific water profile. Carbonation is moderate. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, though the beer remains smooth with no astringency or raw starchiness.
