Celebrating Síbaros Brewery’s 7th anniversary, La Monga is a vibrant Fruit Beer crafted on a robust Double American Pale Ale base. The sensory profile is defined by a generous addition of Caribbean mango, which provides a lush, tropical depth. This succulent fruit character is expertly balanced by the specific use of Motueka hops, which contribute sharp lime zest and bright citrus notes. The elevated body and alcohol content provide a sturdy malt foundation, ensuring the intense fruit and hop oils are well-supported. The result is a harmonious, medium-full-bodied ale where the sweet stone fruit qualities of mango and the zesty New Zealand hops dance over a clean, slightly toasted malt backbone.
Appearance. Deep golden to soft amber (7–11 SRM) with a slight, natural haze from the mango addition. Pours with a persistent, creamy, off-white head that leaves moderate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity featuring a complex bouquet of ripe, fleshy mango and distinct lime zest from the Motueka hops. Supporting notes of lemon, tropical fruit, and a clean, light bready-sweet malt aroma are present. Esters are low and clean, allowing the fruit and hop character to dominate.
Taste. The palate opens with a burst of natural mango flavor, quickly followed by the citrusy, mojito-like lime character of Motueka hops. Bitterness is moderate, providing enough structure to balance the fruit without becoming harsh. The malt offers a supportive toasted bread sweetness. The finish is medium-dry and clean, with a lingering tropical fruit and zesty aftertaste that avoids any syrupy or artificial sensations.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture that enhances the mango perception. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a refreshing lift. A subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its 6.5% strength, while astringency remains very low.
