This Rauchbier pays homage to Franconian tradition, delivering a layered sensory experience rooted in a complex grist of Munich malt and Carafa Special III. The use of dual beechwood-smoked malts creates a nuanced aromatic profile where savory notes of speck and smoked provola cheese meet hints of ash and sweet wood smoke. On the palate, the clean bitterness of Magnum and the herbal elegance of Tettnang Tettnanger balance a toasty, malty richness. Smooth and highly drinkable, it finishes with a lingering, clean smoke character that avoids harshness, reflecting the authentic lager craftsmanship of Bamberg’s legendary smoked beers.

Appearance. Deep amber to coppery-brown in color (approximately 18 SRM). Exhibits a large, creamy, and persistent tan-colored head with excellent lacing and brilliant clarity.

Aroma. High intensity of beechwood smoke, presenting savory notes of smoked ham and wood-fire. Beneath the smoke lies a moderate toasty, rich malt character. Low spicy and herbal hop notes are present, backed by a very clean lager fermentation profile free of esters or phenols.

Taste. A harmonious blend of rich, toasty Munich malt and clean beechwood smoke. The smoke character is complex, ranging from sweet wood to savory speck. Moderate bitterness from Magnum hops provides balance, while Tettnang Tettnanger contributes a light herbal flavor. The finish is medium-dry and smooth, with a lingering aftertaste of toasted grain and elegant smoke.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, well-conditioned lager character. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high, providing a crispness that enhances drinkability. No alcohol warmth or astringency is perceived.
