Capa media de espuma, ligeramente beis y cremosa, que disipa lentamente hasta quedar una fina capa que cubre totalmente la superficie de la cerveza. Cuerpo de ligero a medio, con sensación acuosa, color ámbar oscuro, tirando a cobrizo, con poca burbuja pequeña. Aroma medio con muchas notas frutales, de galleta tipo maría y de lúpulo. En el sabor destaca una malta razonable, especias ligeramente picantes y un lúpulo especialmente amargo que poco a poco se va imponiendo a los demás matices. El final, muy persistente, es seco y muy amargo, con algunas notas de caramelo quemado. 4,5% de alcohol. Servir fría en vaso de pinta (justo la capacidad de la botella).

Olfato: Fuerte aroma a malta levemente tostada y recuerdos dulces a caramelo.
Gusto: Equilibrada y delicada, se perciben pasas y naranjas dulces, balanceando perfectamente hacia notas florales que recuerdan al amargor de la variedad Kent del lúpulo utilizado.
Shepherd Neame Fundada en 1698 en Faversham, Kent, por el mismo alcalde la ciudad, aunque existe evidencia de que la elaboración de cerveza se ha llevado a cabo en el mismo sitio desde al menos 1573. De propiedad familiar desde 1864, derivando con ello que junto con la cervecería Three Tuns en Shropshire, sea la cervecería más antigua de Gran Bretaña. Con más de un siglo de historia, continúa comprometida con la elaboración de la cerveza, tanto Cask Ales como cervezas filtradas, siempre respetando la tradición y manteniendo las recetas usadas desde siglos atrás, en combinación con los estándares de servicios contemporáneos y los más recientes avances tecnológicos. La producción actual es de alrededor de 350.00 HL. al año, exportando sus productos a más de 35 países. Además la compañía posee 328 pubs y hoteles, predominantemente en Kent, Londres y el sudeste de Inglaterra.

Cerveza estilo tradicional inglés, de color brillante, de espuma densa y persistencia media. Con aromas que recuerdan al caramelo y hacen presente la malta tostada. De sabor suave y equilibrado, se notas de pasas y naranjas, con notas florales y con un toque de amargor del lúpulo con el que se elaborada (y que da nombre a la variedad: Kent). Final un tanto amargo y seco, que te evocará el sabor de diversas especias y de frambuesa.

Maridaje: carnes de cerdo y ternera; pescados a la brasa.

Curiosidad: recibe su nombre en conmemoración de la Batalla de Inglaterra (2ª Guerra Mundial), en la que participaron los inolvidables aviones monoplaza Spitfire. Con indicación geográfica protegida, precisamente por el uso del lúpulo de Kent (protección similar a la del champagne francés). Elaborada con agua de un pozo artesiano propio.
