This Double IPA is a high-intensity sensory experience defined by its massive double dry-hopping. A complex, layered profile emerges from the use of Citra, Amarillo, Ekuanot, Sorachi Ace, Simcoe, Pekko, and Chinook. These varieties deliver a powerful punch of tropical fruit, resinous pine, and bright citrus, underscored by unique herbal and floral notes. At 9% alcohol, it maintains a clean, lean malt backbone that allows the hop saturation to take center stage. The mouthfeel is smooth yet firm, finishing dry with a lingering bitterness and gentle warmth that captures the bold, hop bomb spirit intended by the brewers.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper (7-10 SRM). Persistent, off-white, creamy head with significant lacing. Slight haze is present due to the heavy dry-hop additions.
Aroma. Intense hop-forward bouquet. Dominant notes of grapefruit and orange mingle with pineapple and mango. Supporting layers of resinous pine and wood are complemented by subtle hints of lemon zest and floral spice. Malt is neutral and clean, with a very low grainy sweetness and a touch of well-integrated alcohol.
Taste. High hop intensity mirrors the aroma with a complex blend of tropical fruit, citrus pith, and pine resin. High bitterness is firm and assertive but avoids harshness. The malt character is low, providing a soft, supportive grainy base that does not compete with the hops. Fermentation is clean with a dry, lingering finish and a notable, smooth alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle. Noticeable alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, lacking any solvent-like heat. No significant hop-derived astringency.
