This Double IPA presents a decadent, dessert-leaning sensory experience, driven by a lush collaboration with Evil Twin Brewing. The aroma is dominated by bright, citrusy Lemondrop and pineapple-forward Denali hops, which intertwine seamlessly with the tart, garden-fresh scent of rhubarb and ripe strawberries. Milk sugar and vanilla bean provide a silky, custard-like sweetness that tempers the hop bitterness, creating a "smoosh" of complex flavors. Despite its 7.8% ABV strength, the palate remains vibrant, balancing the creamy lactose against a firm hop backbone and the acidic snap of fruit, finishing with a lingering, berry-infused warmth.
Appearance.Deep gold to light amber (8-10 SRM). Pours with a hazy, nearly opaque quality due to the addition of fruit and milk sugar. Topped by a dense, creamy, off-white head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma.High intensity. A complex bouquet of candied lemon peel and tropical pineapple from Lemondrop and Denali hops. Distinctive tart rhubarb and sweet strawberry notes are prominent, rounded out by a smooth, marshmallow-like vanilla bean fragrance and a faint, sweet dairy note from the lactose.
Taste.Initial impression of jammy strawberry and zesty citrus. The mid-palate reveals a soft, doughy malt profile and creamy milk sugar sweetness, supporting piney and tropical hop flavors. Bitterness is moderate for the style, kept in check by the vanilla and lactose. The finish is medium-sweet with a lingering tartness from the rhubarb and a clean, warming alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel.Medium-full body with a noticeably creamy, velvety texture from the milk sugar. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present with no harsh hop-derived astringency.
