Seasons Craft Brewery X-Bacon Rauchbock is a robust sensory experience born from a collaboration with Weyermann® Specialty Malts. Utilizing an assertive 90% smoked malt bill, it delivers an intense, savory beechwood smoke profile reminiscent of crisp bacon. This smokiness is skillfully tempered by a rich foundation of high-quality caramel malts, providing a smooth, toasty sweetness that balances the fire. Noble hops offer a subtle, spicy counterpoint to the deep malt character. Despite its 7.5% strength and four months of maturation, it remains surprisingly approachable, finishing with a clean lager precision that masks its alcoholic depth while leaving a lingering, woody resonance.
Appearance.Deep copper to mahogany (18-24 SRM) with brilliant clarity. It pours with a large, dense, creamy, and persistent tan head that leaves significant lacing.
Aroma.High intensity smoke dominates, characterized by savory, bacon-like, and woody beechwood notes. Behind the smoke lies a rich malt backbone of toasted bread and dark caramel. Noble hop aroma is very low, offering a hint of herbal spice. Exceptionally clean fermentation profile with no esters or phenols.
Taste.Initial wave of rich, malty sweetness and savory smoke. The beechwood smoked malt provides a clean, campfire-like quality without acridity, evolving into a distinct bacon-like saltiness. The mid-palette reveals deep caramel and toasted crust flavors. Bitterness is moderate and well-integrated. The finish is medium-dry, leaving a trailing warmth and a persistent, clean smoky aftertaste.
Mouthfeel.Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture enhanced by extended lagering. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its higher strength, while remaining free of any harshness or astringency.
