The 10.5% ABV is masterfully integrated, manifesting as a smooth, creeping warmth rather than a sharp heat. Rich notes of dried figs and raisins emerge from the interplay between the yeast esters and the sherry-soaked wood, culminating in a complex, lingering finish that balances charred bitterness with a refined, fortified wine sweetness.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+); features a thick, deep tan head with moderate retention and visible oily legs on the glass, indicating high viscosity and alcohol content.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of dark chocolate, cocoa, and heavy roast; pronounced dried fruit esters of figs and raisins are complemented by toasted oak and a nutty, vinous Oloroso sherry character.
Taste. Intense initial impression of bittersweet chocolate and espresso; the mid-palate reveals layers of dark fruit and burnt grain balanced by a firm hop bitterness.
