This English Barley Wine presents a deep ruby-red hue with a dense, persistent beige head. The aroma is a complex tapestry of rich toffee, chocolate, and dried nuts, accented by distinct banana esters and subtle herbal hop notes. Months of aging in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry barrels impart a profound vinous character, flooding the palate with raisins and dark fruit. As the beer warms, the initially fresh hop profile yields to a sophisticated liquor-like finish reminiscent of whisky. Despite the 10.5% ABV, the mouthfeel is round and velvety, balancing intense malt sweetness with a smooth, warming depth that invites slow, contemplative sipping.

Appearance. Dark ruby to burgundy red; brilliant clarity with highlights of deep red. Features a dense, compact beige head with excellent retention and significant lacing; high viscosity is visible in the legs.

Aroma. High intensity; dominant notes of toffee, chocolate, and toasted nuts. Moderate fruity esters of banana are present, alongside a complex sherry-like oxidation from Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso wood. Low herbal hop character and a soft, rounded alcohol presence.

Taste. Rich, multi-layered malty sweetness featuring toffee and nutty depths. The barrel aging contributes intense flavors of raisins and dried fruits with a vinous, sherry-like quality. Bitterness is low to moderate, ensuring a malt-forward balance. The finish is long and liquor-like, evolving from fresh herbal hop notes into a warming, whisky-like aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full-bodied with a chewy, round, and velvety texture enhanced by the addition of oats and wheat. Carbonation is moderate to high. Noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth without any harshness or stinging.
