Schwarze Rose Mana is an expressive Double IPA that masterfully showcases a vibrant New Zealand hop profile. Pouring a luminous gold, it leads with an intense bouquet of gooseberry and crushed white wine grapes derived from Nelson Sauvin, beautifully complemented by the bright lime zest and mojito-like qualities of Motueka. The addition of The Betty and The Bruce blends introduces layers of lush tropical fruit and stone fruit. A lean, neutral malt base allows these southern hemisphere hops to dominate the palate. Despite its 8% ABV, the beer remains remarkably drinkable with a firm, clean bitterness and a crisp, dry finish that emphasizes juicy complexity.
Appearance. Luminous gold to light orange (SRM 6-8) with good clarity and a slight, modern haze. Features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with fine-textured lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring prominent notes of tropical passion fruit, crushed green grapes, and gooseberry. Layers of bright lime and citrus zest are supported by a faint, grainy-sweet malt background. Clean fermentation profile with a very subtle, well-integrated alcohol presence.
Taste. An immediate punch of tropical fruit and white wine flavors. Prominent lime and gooseberry transition into a broader spectrum of melon and peach. Bitterness is high but smooth and not harsh. The malt character is low and neutral, providing a soft platform for the hop saturation. Finishes dry with a lingering, resinous, and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively mouthfeel. Features a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth and no hop-derived astringency.
