Schramm’s Mead Red Agnes is a masterclass in the Berry Mead style, showcasing the vibrant and assertive character of red currants. It presents a stunning cardinal hue that previews an aromatic profile of deep floral notes and concentrated fruit. The initial palate impression is intensely fruity, where the sharp, focused acidity of the currants harmoniously integrates with the rich, floral honey base. Despite its significant strength, the mead is expertly balanced to be perceivably less sweet and lighter in body than its counterparts, offering a dangerously drinkable experience. The interplay of tart berry and honey sugars results in a clean, lingering finish of exceptional clarity and complexity.

Appearance. Brilliant clarity with a stunning, deep cardinal red color; still with no head or lacing, though it exhibits significant legs and viscosity on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity aromatics of fresh red currants, presenting tart, berry-like, and deep floral notes; the honey character is clean and floral, complementing the fruit without overpowering it; no fermentation byproducts or phenolic character.

Taste. A bold initial impression of tart red currants followed by a layer of floral honey sweetness; the balance is shifted toward fruit-driven acidity which provides structure; finish is long, clean, and fruit-forward with a sophisticated, lingering tartness; complexity is high due to the interplay of honey sugars and berry acids.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly syrupy texture that is offset by bright acidity; still carbonation; noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth; no astringency despite the high fruit concentration.
