Reflecting its unique heritage as a collaboration between Schneeeule and Nevel Artisan Ales, Meeske is an enchanting Brett Beer that showcases the rustic, herbaceous beauty of wild woodruff harvested from Germany and the Netherlands. Fermented with both breweries' signature house cultures, it opens with a complex, earthy bouquet of dusty hay, barnyard funk, and a distinct herbal sweet-clover and vanilla note driven by the woodruff. On the palate, this low-alcohol wild ale is bone-dry and effervescent, marrying a gentle rustic tartness with a delicate, grassy, and floral woodruff flavor that lingers alongside a crisp, mineral finish.

Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (SRM 2-3) with a slight, inviting haze. Pours with a fluffy, fine-beaded white head that exhibits moderate retention and leaves delicate lacing on the glass.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Prominent Brettanomyces character of wet hay, leather, and musty cellar, beautifully intertwined with the distinct sweet-herbal, fresh-cut grass, and faint vanilla-like aromas of wild woodruff. Low, rustic stone fruit and citrus esters from the mixed house cultures support the herbal profile.

Taste. Crisp and dry initial impression. Subtle, earthy malt flavors are quickly overtaken by rustic Brett notes of orchard fruit, dusty farmyard, and a unique herbal, woodruff-derived sweet grass flavor. Bitterness is very low. Fermentation character is highly complex with a very soft, refreshing acidity. Finishes bone-dry, exceptionally clean, and lingering with earthy and herbal nuances.

Mouthfeel. Light body with high attenuation, feeling crisp rather than watery. Highly carbonated, delivering a lively, effervescent, and spritzy mouthfeel. Absolutely no alcohol warmth, with zero astringency.

Sagt Hallo zu „Meeske“ unsere Zusammenarbeit mit Nevel Artisan Ales. Vor schon über eine Jahr haben wir uns mit unseren Freund aus Holland zusammengetan und ein Bier gebraut. Ein Bier mit wildem Waldmeister aus Holland und wildem Waldmeister den wir in Brandenburg gesammelt haben. Das haben wir dann mit den Hauskulturen von Nevel und Schneeeule im Tank vergoren und dann vor gut einem Jahr in Flaschen abgefüllt, seitdem reift es.
