This robust interpretation of an International Pale Lager presents an extraordinarily complex sensory profile driven by its 14% ABV and extended ten-month aging. The nose is forceful and heady, dominated by fruity essences of ripe pears, crisp apples, and sweet grapes. Beneath the fruit, intricate layers of vanilla and anise emerge, complemented by a subtle peppery spice. On the palate, the beer is toothsome and rich, featuring a malt character reminiscent of powdered sugar glaze. Appearance. Deep gold (6 SRM). Brilliant clarity. White, frothy head with low retention due to high alcohol concentration.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant grainy-malty sweetness with pronounced fruity esters of pear, apple, and grape. Notable accents of vanilla, anise, and white pepper. Clean fermentation profile despite the extreme strength.
Taste. Intense initial malty sweetness suggesting powdered sugar. Flavors of ripe orchard fruits and grapes are balanced by a spicy, peppery hop character and anise. Bitterness is moderate but serves to offset the substantial malt weight. The finish is exceptionally long, warming, and complex.
