This New Zealand take on a German Pils presents a vibrant sensory profile, grounding the style's traditional crispness in high-quality biscuity pilsner malt. The standout feature is a modern hop bouquet; distinctive Motueka and Riwaka hops provide sharp, refreshing aromas of lemon and lime zest, while a addition of Nelson Sauvin contributes a signature tart gooseberry hit. Brilliantly clear and straw-colored, the beer offers a firm, clean bitterness that cuts through the light malt base. It culminates in a medium-dry finish that is both refreshing and snappy, balancing Southern Hemisphere hop intensity with a classic lager structure.
Appearance. SRM 2-3. Straw colored and brilliantly clear. Features a dense, creamy, long-lasting white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Forward hop character of lemon, lime, and tart gooseberry over a low to medium grainy, doughy, and biscuity malt base. Clean fermentation profile with no sulfur or diacetyl.
Taste. Initial light biscuity malt flavor is quickly overcome by a firm hop bitterness and zesty citrus flavors. The Nelson Sauvin adds a distinct white grape and gooseberry note. Balance is decidedly bitter and crisp. Finishes clean and medium-dry with a lingering, snappy hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body. Moderate to high carbonation. Crisp and refreshing without being harsh; exhibits a slight minerally sharpness that enhances the dry finish. No alcohol warmth.
