Lucy Diamond is a vibrant Berliner Weisse that captures the essence of summer through its collaboration with SanFrutos and Brew & Roll. It presents a charming pinkish hue derived from a generous addition of fresh raspberries. The nose is dominated by a bright, tart red fruit bouquet underscored by a subtle raw bread dough character from the wheat malt. Fermented with Lactobacillus plantarum, the palate experiences a clean, sharp lactic acidity that perfectly balances the succulent raspberry sweetness. Despite its slightly elevated 5.3% ABV, it remains exceptionally refreshing with a high carbonation level and a crisp, bone-dry finish.
Appearance. Light rose to pinkish-orange in color (roughly 4-6 SRM due to fruit). It features a large, dense white head with a faint pink tint and fair retention, appearing somewhat hazy with high effervescence.
Aroma. High intensity of fresh raspberries and mixed red berries. A light, clean lactic sourness is sharp and inviting, backed by a subtle grainy, bready wheat malt character reminiscent of sourdough. No hop aroma or funk is present.
Taste. Initial impression is a bright, clean lactic sourness that dominates the palate. Prominent raspberry flavors provide a tart fruitiness that complements the doughy, bready wheat base. Hop bitterness is undetectable; the acidity provides the balance. The finish is remarkably dry and crisp with a lingering fruit tartness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body, offering more substance than traditional examples due to the higher ABV. Very high carbonation provides a prickly, refreshing sensation. Crisp acidity is present with no alcohol warmth or astringency.
