Sánchez Bier Lichtenhainer

Other Styles 5.3 º 6 IBU
Sánchez Bier Lichtenhainer is a sophisticated revival of a nearly extinct German style, delivering a striking sensory contrast. The profile opens with a distinct, ashy smoke character derived from quality smoked malt, which is immediately balanced by a bright, clean lactic acidity from Lactobacillus fermentation. A base of wheat malt provides a soft, bready foundation, while the high carbonation enhances the beer's refreshing, effervescent quality. Expect a complex interplay where campfire-like phenols meet a sharp, lemon-like tartness, culminating in a bone-dry finish that leaves a lingering, pleasant smokiness on the palate without any harshness or bitterness.
Appearance. Pale gold (4 SRM). Tall, frothy white head with excellent retention and fine lacing. Clarity is mostly clear with a very slight, yeast-derived haze.
Aroma. Moderate intensity. Clean, wood-smoke aromatics dominate initially, reminiscent of beechwood. This is balanced by a sharp, lemony lactic tartness. Low bready and grainy notes from wheat malt. Hop aroma is absent; very low fruity esters are present.
Taste. Initial impression is a bright, clean lactic sourness. Mid-palate features a moderate, savory smoke character that integrates well with a soft, bready wheat malt flavor. Bitterness is very low, as the acidity provides the primary balance. Finish is bone-dry and crisp, with a lingering, clean smoky aftertaste and no phenolic harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high, prickly carbonation. Very refreshing and effervescent. No perceived alcohol warmth or astringency.
