Salvaje La Flaca
La Flaca is a sophisticated and reserved Experimental Beer that belies its initial subtlety with a sweeping wave of malt complexity. Balancing a 6% ABV with a calculated 32 IBUs, this brew centers on a deep, toasted profile. The sensory experience is defined by a tsunami of rich caramel and toasted malt flavors that provide a comforting, celebratory depth. While shy on the first sip, it quickly unfolds into a harmonious display of Maillard products, offering a clean yet impactful character that positions it as a more restrained, malt-focused alternative to its vibrant counterparts.
Appearance. Deep copper to reddish-brown (15–20 SRM). Topped with a persistent, creamy off-white head that leaves moderate lacing. Generally clear with a slight garnet highlight when held to the light.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity featuring prominent notes of rich caramel, toasted bread crust, and a hint of biscuit. Hop aroma is very low to none, allowing the malt-forward profile to lead. Fermentation is clean with negligible esters.
Taste. The initial impression is subtle and clean, followed by a sudden surge of toasted malt and dark caramel. A moderate bitterness (32 IBUs) provides necessary balance against the malt sweetness without becoming sharp. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering toasted grain and burnt sugar aftertaste, maintaining a high level of drinkability.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate, providing a gentle prickle that cleanses the palate. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but never harsh.
