Saltus

This Hazy IPA presents an invitingly opaque, glowing appearance that prefaces an explosion of tropical and citrus sensory cues. The aromatic profile is headlined by the distinctive lime and zest of Motueka, complemented by the punchy grapefruit and mango layers of Citra. A subtle underlying resinous pine and passion fruit depth from Simcoe adds complexity to the 'juicy' character. The palate is defined by a soft, plush texture and a restrained bitterness that allows the vibrant fruit flavors to shine over a clean, bready malt foundation. It finishes smooth and off-dry, with a lingering tropical essence that encourages another sip.

Appearance. Color is a deep straw to light amber (approx. 4-6 SRM) with a high degree of opacity and a characteristic hazy shine. It supports a medium, rocky, white meringue-like head with excellent retention and lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of lime, grapefruit, and mango with hints of tropical stone fruit and a light resinous pine. The malt is subtle and grainy-sweet, while the fermentation profile is clean with light fruity esters that support the hop character.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit and citrus oils. High fruity hop flavor mirroring the aroma (lime, mango, and pine). Malt flavor is low to medium and bready. Perceived bitterness is moderate but smooth, masked by the body. The finish is off-dry and clean without any hop harshness or astringency.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, smooth, and pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate. There is a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and an absence of any raw starch or acidic twang.
