Salopian Brewery Red Mist is a striking Alternative Grain Beer that showcases the sophisticated interplay between peppery rye and vibrant American hops. Pouring a deep, luminous copper, it leads with a high-intensity aroma of spicy grain, zesty citrus, and soft pine. The palate is defined by a distinct rye spiciness that weaves through layers of toasted bread and subtle caramel. The addition of rye provides a characteristic dryness and a slightly slicker mouthfeel, while a firm hop bitterness ensures a clean, lingering finish. Originally a collaboration with BrewDog, this brew expertly balances rustic grain complexity with a modern, assertive hop-forward profile.

Appearance. Deep copper to reddish-amber (SRM 14-17); persistent, frothy off-white head with excellent lacing; generally clear but may exhibit a very slight haze characteristic of the rye content.

Aroma. Moderate-high intensity; prominent spicy and peppery rye character supported by citrusy and resinous hop notes; background of toasted bread and light caramel malt; clean fermentation with very low fruity esters and no diacetyl.

Taste. Initial spicy rye bite followed by bready malt and hints of toasted grain; citrus and grapefruit hop flavors are moderate; firm hop bitterness provides balance (approx. 40 IBU) without being harsh; finish is notably dry and crisp with a lingering spicy and resinous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a characteristic rye-driven silkiness and viscosity; moderate carbonation; very low alcohol warmth; smooth and highly drinkable with no perceptible grain astringency.
