Salikatt

Overdrive is a formidable Double IPA that marries the depth of low-color Maris Otter and oats with an explosive hop profile. The aroma is saturated with the bright citrus of Citra, the tropical pineapple and passion fruit of Vic Secret, and the distinct peach and melon notes of HBC1019. Despite its 10.5% ABV, the palate remains remarkably smooth due to extended cold conditioning, which strips away harsh vegetal notes. The robust, creamy body balances a firm bitterness, leading to a finish that is clean yet lingeringly resinous. It represents a modern, high-gravity interpretation where intense hop saturation meets a velvety, substantial grain bill.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-9 SRM). Pours with a thick, persistent white head leaving heavy lacing. Persistent haze is present, characteristic of the high oat content and heavy dry-hopping.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring heavy tropical fruit (passion fruit, pineapple), ripe peach, and candied orange peel. Subtle resinous pine and a background of clean, bready Maris Otter malt. Fermentation is clean with very low esters and no solventy alcohol.

Taste. Initial impact of tropical fruit and citrus oil. Citra provides lime and grapefruit, while Vic Secret adds a herbal, piney edge. The moderately high bitterness is firm but well-integrated against the soft, oaty malt base. The finish is medium-dry with a touch of warming alcohol and a lingering aftertaste of fruit skins and resin.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full, robust body with a creamy, velvety texture from the oats. Moderate carbonation. Notable but smooth alcohol warmth is present. Very low astringency despite the heavy dry-hop load.
