Salikatt

Overcall is a massive, high-gravity Double IPA that showcases an intense saturation of modern hops against a substantial malt backdrop. The use of Golden Promise malt provides a clean, sweet, and slightly bready foundation, while a heavy addition of oats creates a velvety, robust body. This smooth texture carries a complex array of hop-driven aromas and flavors, specifically the citrus and floral notes of Amarillo, the pungent grapefruit and grassy character of Comet, and the tropical fruit and berry depth of Mosaic. Despite its 12% ABV, the beer remains remarkably juicy and drinkable, finishing with a firm, resinous bitterness and integrated alcohol warmth.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (8-10 SRM). Displays a moderate to heavy haze due to high oat content and dry-hopping. Crowned by a dense, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing.

Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring dominant tropical fruit, blueberry, and stone fruit from Mosaic, complemented by Amarillo’s orange zest and Comet’s resinous grapefruit. Background notes of sweet, grainy Golden Promise malt are present, alongside a subtle, clean alcohol note.

Taste. Strong hop flavors of mango, passion fruit, and citrus marmalade lead the palate. High bitterness is firm but not harsh, balanced by a soft, supportive malt sweetness. The Golden Promise provides a light honey-like character before a medium-dry finish with lingering hop resin and moderate alcohol warmth.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, silky texture from the oats. Moderate carbonation. Smooth, noticeable alcohol warmth that is well-integrated and devoid of harshness.
