This bourbon barrel-aged Doppelbock presents a luxurious tapestry of deep, Maillard-driven maltiness and sophisticated spirit character. The extended aging in bourbon barrels rounds out the initial edges of the roasted malts, weaving in threads of vanilla, toasted oak, and a whisper of coconut. A dominant backbone of rich Munich malt provides a chewy, bread-crust foundation, complemented by dark fruit notes of dried plum and raisin. The 9.5% ABV is exceptionally well-integrated, offering a smooth warmth that enhances the complex layers of caramel and toasted nuts. It is a decadent, meditative lager where traditional German brewing meets the refined depth of American oak.

Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown with brilliant ruby highlights. It carries a thick, creamy, tan head with excellent retention and fine lacing.

Aroma. High intensity malt aroma featuring toasted bread, dark caramel, and rich Maillard products. The bourbon barrel influence is prominent, contributing notes of vanilla, oak, and a hint of spicy rye. Low esters of dark fruit like plum and fig are present, with a clean fermentation profile and no hop aroma.

Taste. Intensely malty and rich, dominated by toasted Munich malt and sweet caramel flavors. The barrel aging adds complexity with layers of bourbon, vanilla, and subtle wood tannins that balance the sweetness. Bitterness is low, allowing the malt to lead into a long, warming finish of dark fruit and toasted hazelnuts.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and remarkably smooth. Carbonation is moderate-low, contributing to a velvety, creamy texture. A pleasant, gentle alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its 9.5% strength without any harshness or fusel notes.
