Blastpipe, a collaborative Double IPA from Salikatt and Westum Hjemmebryggeri, delivers an intense sensory profile driven by a heavy-handed addition of Mosaic, Eclipse, and Citra hops. The aroma and flavor are defined by a fusion of dank resin, bright citrus, and tropical fruit notes. A specialized malt bill featuring Bonsak Fairytale, Golden Promise, and a significant portion of oats provides a soft, pillowy texture that balances the high hop intensity. Despite its strength, the beer remains highly drinkable, finishing with a clean, lingering bitterness characteristic of a well-crafted modern hop-forward ale.

Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper (6-9 SRM). The inclusion of oats provides a hazy to opaque clarity. Features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with dense lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of mandarin orange and pine from Eclipse, mango and grapefruit from Citra, and a distinct dank, berry-like character from Mosaic. A supportive, low grainy-sweet malt presence sits in the background.

Taste. Initial impression is a wave of tropical fruit and citrus oils. Strong hop flavor follows the aroma with notes of lime zest, melon, and resinous pine. Bitterness is firm and moderately high but lacks harshness. The malt character is clean and soft, providing just enough bread-like support from the Golden Promise and Bonsak Fairytale malts. Finishes dry to medium-dry with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being hot, and there is no hop-derived astringency.

Blastpipe is a collaboration beer with home brewer Espen Westum. Espen is known for digging deep into the beer styles he cares about and going all in when brewing them himself. Naturally we combined our thoughts about raw materials and process and combined them when making this New England style IPA. When it comes to the grain bill the beer is constructed upon a base of Bonsak Fairytale, Golden Promise and oats for light color and soft mouthfeel. Then we loaded the beer up with Mosaic, Eclipse and Citra hops for a dank and fruity hop character. We hope you like it, cheers!
