This Texan-inspired Sweet Stout offers a lush, sensory interpretation of a traditional Horchata. A complex foundation of ten distinct malts and Muscovado sugar creates a deep, dark canvas for aromatic infusions of vanilla and cinnamon. The addition of lactose imparts a signature milky sweetness and an exceptionally creamy texture. Expect a bouquet of spiced chocolate and sweetened espresso, followed by a velvety palate where the warmth of cinnamon meets the rounded richness of vanilla. Silky and full-bodied, it balances mild roasted grain bitterness with a lingering, dessert-like finish that mirrors the comforting character of its namesake spiced drink.
Appearance. Opaque, deep ebony to black (35–40 SRM). Pours with a thick, persistent, creamy tan head that leaves dense lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity with a rich, cream-like sweetness. Pronounced notes of fragrant vanilla and warm cinnamon overlay a base of milk chocolate and lightly toasted coffee. Subtle hints of dark molasses from the Muscovado sugar are present, with clean fermentation and minimal hop character.
Taste. Initial impression is decidedly sweet and creamy. Dominant flavors of vanilla-flecked cocoa and spiced milk are supported by a complex malt backbone. Moderate roasted grain character provides a gentle counterpoint to the lactose and Muscovado sugar sweetness. The cinnamon adds a spicy depth without harshness. Bitterness is low, leading into a long, sweet, and smooth finish.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally creamy with a silky, coating texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the milky sensation. A gentle alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, providing a cozy finish without astringency.
