This Double IPA showcases a sophisticated sensory profile amplified by the addition of Phantasm, a concentrate derived from New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The aroma is an explosive collision of thiol-driven passion fruit, crushed gooseberry, and vibrant tropical citrus. On the palate, the neutral malt base allows the hop-derived stone fruit and grape notes to take center stage, supported by a clean, firm bitterness. At 8% ABV, the beer exhibits a smooth, well-integrated warmth that enhances the fruity esters. It finishes remarkably dry and crisp, leaving a lingering impression of lime zest and white wine character that invites another sip.
Appearance. Ranging from deep gold to light orange-copper with a moderate-sized, persistent white head that leaves fine lacing. Displays good clarity, though a faint, luminous haze may be present from the heavy dry-hopping and Phantasm additions.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passion fruit, grapefruit, and white grape. A subtle, neutral, grainy malt character sits in the background, complemented by very light fruity fermentation esters and a soft, clean alcohol presence.
Taste. Leading with a powerful wave of tropical fruit, mango, and gooseberry flavors. The malt flavor is low and unobtrusive, providing a lean foundation for the moderately high bitterness. It features a very dry finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste and a smooth, clean alcohol flavor that lacks any harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crispness that accentuates the dry finish. A restrained and pleasant alcohol warmth is noticeable but remains well-integrated.
