This Foreign Extra Stout presents a rich, roast-forward profile defined by deep layers of espresso and dark chocolate. Rye River utilizes specific Chocolate Malt to drive a decadent, bitter-sweet intensity that feels both luxurious and approachable. The nose is greeted by a robust aromatic interplay of fresh coffee beans, cocoa, and a delicate hint of smoke. On the palate, the roast character is prominent but smooth, avoiding harsh acidity, and transitioning into a moderately dry, lingering finish. Appearance. Very deep ebony to near-black in color (SRM 38). Opaque clarity with a large, creamy tan head that demonstrates excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High aromatic intensity featuring prominent coffee and dark chocolate. A subtle hint of smoke and low dark fruit esters (raisin/plum) are supported by a faint, earthy hop character.
