L’Hommage is a luminous Belgian IPA that bridges traditional European brewing with modern hop-forward intensity. Inspired by the legendary XX Bitter, this collaboration pours a brilliant golden hue with a dense, billowing white head. The sensory profile is defined by a complex interplay of spicy, floral, and orchard fruit notes from whole cone European and British hops, bolstered by the distinctive pear and light clove esters of a specialty Belgian yeast. The palate is exceptionally clean and crisp, allowing the assertive, high bitterness to shine through a lean malt base. It concludes with an unapologetically long, dry, and bracingly bitter finish that remains smooth and refined.
Appearance. Deep golden to amber-gold (6-8 SRM); brilliant clarity; large, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring spicy, herbal, and floral notes alongside subtle berry and stone fruit. Moderate fruity esters of pear and red apple from the Belgian yeast. Low, crackery malt sweetness in the background with a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is dry and hop-forward with flavors of dried herbs, floral tea, and spicy noble-style hops. Medium-high to high bitterness that is firm but not harsh. Light, grainy malt sweetness supports the hops. Yeast character provides nuances of orchard fruit and a hint of white pepper. The finish is very dry and crisp with a lingering, clean hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high, effervescent carbonation that enhances the crisp character. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth. Very smooth with no hop astringency.
