This collaboration between Runaway Brewery and Torrside Brewing is a masterful execution of the historical Grodziskie style. The sensory profile is headlined by the distinctive use of oak-smoked wheat malt, which imparts a clean, refined campfire aroma without the heavy grease or bacon notes typical of beechwood. Despite the low 2.9% ABV, it possesses a sharp, refreshing character. The palate is remarkably bone dry, featuring a delicate bready wheat base balanced by a firm, spicy hop presence. Brilliantly clear and highly carbonated, this pale straw-colored ale delivers an exceptionally crisp and effervescent finish that cleanses the palate instantly.
Appearance. 2–3 SRM. Brilliant clarity with a very pale straw color. Pours with a large, billowy, and highly persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity of clean oak smoke. Subtle background of grainy, bready wheat. Low spicy or floral hop aroma. Clean fermentation profile with no yeast-derived esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impression is a crisp, clean oak smoke flavor that remains smooth. Light bready wheat malt flavor follows. Moderate hop bitterness provides balance without being aggressive. Bone dry finish with a short, clean aftertaste of wood smoke and subtle grain.
Mouthfeel. Very light body with a high, prickly carbonation that provides a sharp, refreshing sting. No alcohol warmth. Smooth, without any smoke-derived astringency or harshness.
