Appearance. Jet black and opaque with deep garnet highlights visible against the light. Topped by a thick, persistent, tan-colored head with dense foam and consistent lacing. (SRM 35-40)

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity dominated by roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Secondary notes of cocoa and toasted grain provide complexity. Low earthy hop character and subtle yeast esters are present, with no detectable diacetyl.

Taste. Leading with a punch of roasted grain and espresso-like flavors, moving into a bittersweet chocolate mid-palate. Bitterness is medium-high, perfectly balancing the minimal malt sweetness. The finish is remarkably dry and clean, leaving a lingering, roasted aftertaste without harshness.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, creamy texture that belies its moderate strength. Carbonation is moderate. A very light, pleasant astringency from the roasted grains is present, though it remains soft on the palate with no alcohol warmth.
