This English Barley Wine is a decadent, slow-sipping masterpiece shaped by nine months in Glenmorangie Port Finish and Heaven Hill Bourbon casks. The sensory profile opens with an intense bouquet of toffee, dark raisins, and a vinous, port-like depth. On the palate, the high ABV manifests as a smooth, well-integrated warmth, supporting rich layers of biscuit and caramel malt. The dual barrel aging contributes complex notes of vanilla, toasted oak, and a hint of coconut, while the finish is long, sweet, and luxurious. It exemplifies the style’s chewy body and sophisticated fruit-forward complexity, offering a velvet-like texture.
Appearance. Deep mahogany with brilliant clarity and ruby highlights. A thin, creamy, tan head forms briefly, leaving noticeable legs on the glass as it recedes.
Aroma. High intensity aroma of rich caramel and dark toffee, followed by dried figs and plums. The barrel influence is prominent, offering vanilla, bourbon, and a refined vinous quality reminiscent of port wine.
Taste. Initial impression is deeply sweet and malty, with complex bread and biscuit flavors. Mid-palate reveals dark fruit esters and barrel-derived vanilla and oak spice.
