Roots Rock Reggae is a vibrant Fruit Beer built on a robust India Pale Ale foundation. A bright interplay of fresh pineapple and zesty grapefruit juice drives the profile, seamlessly integrating with a complex hop bill. Admiral and Summit provide a firm bitterness, while late additions of Cascade and Centennial offer floral and citrus layers. The unmistakable presence of Nelson Sauvin introduces notes of crushed gooseberry and passion fruit. Together, these elements create a tropical, resinous experience with a crisp finish. The citrus zest sharpens the palate, ensuring the fruit feels natural and integrated rather than sugary, supported by a clean, bready malt backbone.

Appearance. Deep gold to pale amber (6-9 SRM). Pours with a persistent, off-white, frothy head that leaves significant lacing. Displays a slight haze from the addition of fresh fruit juice and heavy dry-hopping.

Aroma. High intensity. Bold aromas of fresh pineapple and sharp grapefruit zest dominate initially. This is backed by a resinous and floral hop character featuring notes of pine and white wine grapes. A light bready malt sweetness acts as a backdrop, with clean fermentation and no significant yeast esters.

Taste. Initial punch of tropical fruit and citrus pith. The pineapple provides a succulent mid-palate, while the grapefruit juice adds a tangy acidity. Hop flavors are prominent, emphasizing grapefruit, lemon, and a subtle herbal earthiness. Firm bitterness balances the fruit character. Finishes very dry and clean with a lingering resinous and zesty aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a slightly crisp, drying sensation from the fruit acids. Moderate to high carbonation provides a lively, refreshing mouthfeel. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, without any harsh astringency.
