This English Porter offers a robust sensory journey, driven by a complex grain bill of Pale Ale, Carafa I, Caramunich 3, and Simpsons DRC malts. The aroma is a rich tapestry of dark chocolate and dried fruits, lifted by the resinous and citrusy punch of Citra, CTZ, and Chinook hops. On the palate, the flaked oats provide a luxurious, silky texture that carries flavors of toasted bread and deep caramel. Wood maturation adds a sophisticated, structured layer to the finish, beautifully balancing the malt sweetness with a gentle tannic dryness and a lingering, piney bitterness.

Appearance. Deep dark brown with brilliant ruby highlights at the edges. Features a thick, creamy, light tan head with excellent retention and significant lacing. Clarity is good, though the beer appears nearly opaque in the glass.

Aroma. Moderately high intensity with dominant notes of dark chocolate, toffee, and toasted bread. The Simpsons DRC malt contributes a distinct dark fruit character, reminiscent of raisins. A modern hop profile of piney Chinook and citrusy Citra is evident, intertwined with a subtle, earthy wood-aged scent and moderate fruity esters.

Taste. Initial bready and carmelly sweetness from Caramunich 3 transitions into a mild chocolate roastiness from the Carafa I. Hop flavors are moderate, presenting as earthy resin and a hint of grapefruit. The bitterness is firm but balanced, leading to a fairly dry finish where the wood maturation adds complexity and a slight oak-like depth without being burnt or harsh.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable creaminess and smooth texture provided by flaked oats. Carbonation is moderate. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 6.5% ABV without any harshness or astringency.
