Rohozec X presents a refined expression of the Munich Dunkel style, emphasizing a complex grain bill of Czech, Munich, and caramel malts. The sensory profile is defined by a deep, toasted bread crust character with elegant layers of nuttiness and soft toffee. Despite its dark hue, the beer remains exceptionally drinkable, balancing malt richness with a clean lager fermentation and a gentle herbal hop presence. The Munich malt provides a sturdy, bready foundation, while the caramel malt adds a subtle sweetness that never becomes cloying, leading to a smooth, medium-dry finish that honors traditional Central European brewing heritage.
Appearance. Deep garnet to dark brown (SRM 22-26) with brilliant clarity. It features a persistent, creamy, light tan head with excellent retention and fine lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high malt intensity characterized by toasted bread crusts, roasted hazelnuts, and a touch of milk chocolate. A faint hint of toffee from the caramel malt is present. Clean fermentation profile with no esters; low spicy hop notes are optional but supportive.
Taste. Initial impression is rich and malty with a prominent bready Munich malt character. Mid-palate offers flavors of toasted grain and light caramel without being sugary. Bitterness is medium-low, providing balance to the malt-forward profile. The finish is clean and medium-dry with a lingering toasted aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft, and slightly dextrinous texture that avoids being heavy. Carbonation is moderate. No alcohol warmth or astringency is perceptible.
