This American Brown Ale presents a rich, dessert-forward profile centered on the distinctive addition of Oregon hazelnuts. Deep layers of Chocolate and Crystal malts provide a foundation of toasted bread, dark toffee, and cocoa, while the star ingredient imparts a robust, aromatic roasted nuttiness throughout the experience. The hazelnut character is intense yet well-integrated, bridging the gap between the sweet maltiness and a subtle, balancing hop bitterness that ensures a clean, slightly dry finish. Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown (SRM 25-30). Clear with a moderate, light tan head that shows good retention and leaves fine lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity of toasted hazelnuts dominates, followed by moderate malty-rich notes of milk chocolate, caramel, and toffee. Low earthy hop aroma provides a subtle counterpoint, with very low fruity esters and no harsh roasted or acrid character.
Taste. Initial impression of sweet toasted nuts and rich caramel. The mid-palate reveals layers of chocolate malt and toffee complexity. Hop bitterness is moderate, providing enough balance to prevent a cloying finish. The aftertaste is lingering and pleasant, featuring cocoa and a distinct nutty dryness. Fermentation is clean with minimal esters.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to moderately-high. Includes a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth that complements the rich malt profile.
