This Coffee Stout collaboration pulses with the vibrant aroma of freshly roasted local coffee, integrated seamlessly into a robust malty bedrock. The use of Regen Grown Base Malt and Double Roasted Crystal creates a complex foundation of dark chocolate and toasted bread crusts. It is exceptionally crisp and dry as bone, defying the typical weight of the style. Intense black coffee notes dominate the palate, leading into a clean, highly drinkable finish. A light lingering bitterness from the roasted grains and coffee beans provides a sharp, refreshing edge, embodying a relentless, high-energy character.
Appearance. Deep ebony to opaque black (SRM 35-40) with a persistent, creamy dark tan head that leaves intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of freshly ground dark roast coffee and espresso. Supporting notes of bittersweet chocolate, charred toast, and a hint of nutty Double Roasted Crystal malt. Hop aroma is very low, allowing the coffee to lead.
Taste. The initial impression is dominated by sharp, unsweetened black coffee and cold-brew intensity. Mid-palate reveals roasted grain bitterness and a touch of cocoa from the Regen Grown Base Malt foundation. The balance is firmly toward the roast and coffee, finishing remarkably dry and clean with a short, crisp aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a surprisingly crisp, lean texture. Moderate carbonation provides a refreshing prickle on the tongue, while the finish is free of any cloying sweetness or heavy oiliness.
