This Imperial Stout is a decadent sensory experience, merging the robust architecture of dark roasted grains with breakfast-inspired adjuncts. A complex grain bill featuring Pale Malt, Toffee Malt, and Brown Malt provides a foundational sweetness and biscuity depth, while Dark Choc Malt and Carafa 3 impart intense layers of espresso and cocoa. The addition of Margaret River coffee beans and Gabriel’s cacao nibs amplifies these roasty notes, seamlessly integrated with the velvety, lactose-driven sweetness of milk sugar. Rolled oats ensure a plush, coating texture that carries the bold flavors through a long, bittersweet finish of dark chocolate and roasted grain.

Appearance. Opaque jet black (SRM 40). Pours with a dense, persistent deep tan head that leaves significant lacing on the glass. High viscosity is evident, with thick 'legs' appearing when the glass is swirled.

Aroma. High intensity aroma dominated by freshly roasted coffee and rich dark chocolate. Underneath, there is a complex malt sweetness suggesting toffee and burnt sugar. Very low fruity esters of plum or raisin; hop aroma is absent, allowing the coffee and cacao to lead.

Taste. Initial impression is rich and sweet, transitioning into a bold mid-palate of bittersweet chocolate and cold-brew coffee. The malt profile is deep, showcasing bready Pale Malt, caramel-heavy Toffee Malt, and the sharp, roasty bite of Carafa 3. Hop bitterness is moderate but feels firm against the residual sweetness of milk sugar. The finish is long and luxurious, with lingering notes of cocoa nibs and roasted malt.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally chewy; the rolled oats and milk sugar provide a luscious, velvety creaminess. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, gentle alcohol warmth is present and well-integrated, with no astringency from the dark roasted grains.
