Begin 2014 produceerden we onze eerste 1000 liter bier voor de verkoop. “Dit raken we nooit kwijt”, dachten we. Binnen twee weken was alles verkocht. Bier maken kost tijd, dus de eerste afnemers moesten direct een maand wachten op nieuw bier. Een mooie valse start. Ons bier viel in de smaak. Dit eerste bier is onze Koene Ridder. Vernoemd naar Koen èn omdat Koen dapper betekent.
De eerste 1,5 jaar was de Koene Ridder het enige vaste bier in het assortiment. We gaan voor kwaliteit, wat betekent dat we geen concessies doen aan ingrediënten en smaak. Naast de Koene Ridder brachten we twee seizoensbieren uit. Een bockbier, gelagerd op koffiebonen, en een echt traditionele Weizen . Sinds begin 2016 is er een tweede vast bier bijgekomen, de Amersfoorts Pale Ale waar we bizar veel hop aan hebben toegevoegd.
De naam
Rock City Brewing verwijst naar de Amersfoortse bijnaam ‘de Keistad’. Jonkheer Everard Meyster sloot, zo gaat het verhaal, in 1661 een weddenschap met vrienden. Hij daagde de Amersfoorters uit om een enorme steen van Soesterberg naar Amersfoort te slepen. Dit lukte. De kei werd Amersfoort binnengetrokken en als beloning werd iedereen getrakteerd op bier en krakelingen.
Nu laten wij met ècht Amersfoortse speciaalbieren zien dat historie en traditie hand in hand gaan met lef. Lef om iets nieuws te proberen, te ontdekken en anders te durven doen.
Limited Editions
We experimenteren graag en brengen regelmatig Limited Editions en Specials op de markt, zoals bijvoorbeeld de Pater Pek serie. Liefhebbers die onze bieren kennen, kijken hier echt naar uit. Daar zijn we best trots op. Ook maken we voor restaurants en cafe’s eigen huisbieren en brouwen we zo nu en dan een collab.
