Near Protocol is a vibrant Hazy IPA that captures the style's juicy essence with striking visual density. The use of Mosaic hops defines the sensory experience, projecting a massive aromatic profile of ripe mango, succulent pineapple, and sun-ripened peach. These tropical layers are intricately woven with subtle notes of red fruit and a refined touch of resinous pine. The palate is exceptionally round and creamy, offering a saturated fruit character that feels both lush and vibrant. This expression balances its high hop intensity against a soft, bready malt foundation, culminating in a smooth, approachable finish that avoids any lingering harshness.
Appearance. Deep straw to light gold (4-6 SRM) with an opaque, intense haze that provides a characteristic shine. It supports a thick, rocky, meringue-like white head with high retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aroma dominated by tropical and stone fruits. Pronounced notes of mango, pineapple, and peach are layered with a distinct red berry character and a light touch of resinous hops. The malt is subtle, providing a clean, bready, and neutral grain background without toast or caramel.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of juicy tropical fruit, echoing the mango and peach found in the aroma. The Mosaic hops impart a nuanced red fruit complexity and a light resinous note in the finish. Malt flavor is low and bready, supporting the high hop intensity. Bitterness is moderate but perceived as mild due to the soft body. The finish is smooth and off-dry with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably smooth, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate, contributing to the vibrant mouthfeel without being sharp. There is a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and no hop-derived astringency.
