This Specialty IPA presents a striking balance between modern hop intensity and a smooth, dark malt foundation. Utilizing Citra and Mosaic hops, the profile is led by vibrant layers of grapefruit and tropical mango, while deeper notes of pine and stone fruit emerge from the Mosaic contribution. Cold-fermented with Kveik yeast to ensure a clean, crisp canvas, the beer offers a subtle hint of citrus esters that complement the hop-forward character. A restrained use of debittered malts provides a gentle roasted complexity without harshness, creating a refined, dry finish that emphasizes both its fruity aromatics and firm bitterness.
Appearance. Deep dark brown to nearly black (30–35 SRM). It features a persistent, light tan head with moderate lacing. Though very dark, the beer maintains a clear, non-murky clarity.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by mango, grapefruit, and resinous pine. Moderate malt presence offers supportive notes of light chocolate and toasted bread. A clean fermentation profile from the cold Kveik provides a very low, complementary citrus ester.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with stone fruit and citrus zest from the Citra and Mosaic. The mid-palate introduces a low malt sweetness with flavors of cold-brew coffee and unsweetened cocoa. Firm bitterness (estimated 60 IBU) provides a crisp structure without being harsh or ashy. It finishes dry and clean with a lingering resinous and tropical hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a crisp bite. Very light alcohol warmth is well-integrated, with no perceived astringency from the dark malts.
