Rewort Brewery Regatta
Regatta is a traditional Gose that captures the bracing spirit of the open sea, emphasizing a sharp, piercing acidity and mineral-driven depth. Eschewing the modern trend of fruit-heavy syrups, this collaboration between Rewort Brewery and Borman Brew highlights a crisp foundation of Pilsner and wheat malts. The sensory experience is defined by a distinct sea salt character that evokes a saline, mouthwatering breeze, perfectly integrated with the bright, citrusy punch of coriander. Effervescent carbonation carries notes of lemon zest through to a bone-dry finish, making this an invigorating and refreshing example of the style that prioritizes salt and sourness over hop bitterness.
Appearance. Yellow (SRM 3-4) with a moderate to full haze. It features a tall, white head with tight bubbles and moderate to good retention, displaying high effervescence.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with a sharp, clean sourness. Lightly bready and doughy malt notes are complemented by a fresh, citrusy coriander character reminiscent of lemon zest. A faint, mineral-like saline quality is present, with no detectable hop aroma or yeast-derived esters beyond a light pome fruitiness.
Taste. Initial impression is sharply sour and saline. A moderate bready wheat malt flavor provides a backbone for the medium-high acidity and noticeable sea salt character. Flavors of lemon and bright spice emerge from the coriander. Bitterness is very low, with the balance firmly shifted toward acidity. The finish is fully attenuated, clean, and bone-dry with lingering tartness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with very high, effervescent carbonation. The salt provides a tingly, mouthwatering quality on the tongue, while the 5.5% ABV offers a very light, well-integrated warmth. It is refreshing and crisp without any astringency.
