This English Porter is amplified into a double-strength format, delivering a profound sensory experience centered on hazelnuts. The addition of hazelnut at three distinct stages—boil, cold-side, and maturation—creates an immersive, aromatic profile that leads with intense roasted nuttiness. A base of chocolate and caramel malts provides a sturdy, biscuity backbone, while the addition of lactose rounds out the palate with a silky, dessert-like sweetness. Despite the elevated 6.9% alcohol, the beer remains smooth and decadent, balancing its moderate bitterness against a rich, lingering hazelnut and milk chocolate finish that coats the senses.
Appearance. Deep, dark brown and nearly opaque with attractive ruby highlights at the edges. Supports a persistent, creamy, light tan head with moderate lacing and fair retention.
Aroma. High intensity roasted hazelnut dominates the bouquet. Beneath the nuttiness, moderate notes of milk chocolate, toffee, and biscuity malt provide depth. Subtle earthy hop notes and light fruity esters are present but secondary to the primary hazelnut and lactose character.
