This bold Double IPA delivers a high-intensity sensory experience driven by a classic combination of Amarillo and Citra hops. The aroma is a vibrant explosion of zesty orange and floral notes from the Amarillo, coupled with the tropical fruit and sharp grapefruit punch characteristic of Citra. At 8.6% ABV, it presents a smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth that supports the resinous hop bitterness. The palate is defined by a clean, neutral malt base that allows the juicy hop oils to take center stage, finishing remarkably dry with a lingering, crisp bitterness that emphasizes drinkability despite its significant strength.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper (SRM 7-9). Good clarity with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop-forward bouquet featuring prominent notes of grapefruit and tropical mango from the Citra, alongside floral and sweet orange zest from the Amarillo. Background malt is clean and grainy-sweet with a very faint, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial citrus punch of lime and tangerine transitions into stone fruit and resinous pine. High hop bitterness is prominent but smooth, balanced by a light, bready malt character. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a long, hoppy aftertaste of citrus rind.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. A light, refined alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated without harshness or astringency.
