This Sweet Stout is a rich, velvety tribute, merging deep roasted malt character with a lush, tropical flair. The sensory profile is dominated by decadent notes of toasted coconut and sweetened espresso, reflecting its high finishing gravity and creamy composition. A base of dark specialty malts provides a robust foundation of milk chocolate and charred grain, while the infusion of coconut creates a smooth, exotic mid-palate. Though it leans heavily into dessert-like sweetness with a luxurious mouthfeel, a gentle roasted bitterness provides just enough structure to ensure a lingering, indulgent finish reminiscent of a dark chocolate coconut truffle.
Appearance. Very dark brown to opaque black (35-40 SRM). Topped with a dense, creamy tan head that shows excellent retention and leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity with a dominant aroma of toasted coconut and milk chocolate. Supporting notes of coffee-and-cream and sweet caramel are present, with low dark fruit esters. Hop aroma is absent, allowing the roasted grain and adjunct sweetness to lead.
Taste. Initial impression is highly sweet and creamy, featuring prominent chocolate and coconut flavors. The mid-palate reveals sweetened espresso and mild roasted malt notes. Bitterness is low (15 IBU), serving only to prevent the beer from being cloying. The finish is long and indulgent, leaving a lingering taste of coconut macaroons and dark malt.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a velvety, coating texture. Carbonation is moderate-low, enhancing the creamy character. A light, integrated alcohol warmth is present but subtle.
