This Imperial Stout presents an immense sensory landscape, profoundly shaped by its extended maturation in Mascaró brandy barrels. The pour reveals a deep, viscous character typical of a traditional Russian Imperial Stout. The aroma is saturated with dark chocolate, espresso, and burnt grain, lifted by the spirit-forward elegance of the brandy. On the palate, decadent layers of molasses and black licorice meet the vinous, oak-derived complexities of the barrel. The 11.5% alcohol provides a smooth, integrated warmth that carries notes of dried figs and raisins into a long, bittersweet finish. It is a harmonious, full-bodied experience where roasted intensity finds balance in refined barrel aging.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). It produces a dense, deep tan head with moderate retention. High viscosity is apparent, leaving thick, persistent legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominant notes of bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, and charred grain. The brandy barrel aging contributes a rich, vinous character with hints of vanilla, toasted oak, and dried dark fruits like raisins and prunes. Subtle esters of black currant are present, while hop aroma is very low, allowing the complex malt and spirit character to lead.

Taste. Initial impression is powerful and complex. Deep roasted malt flavors of cocoa and espresso are layered with burnt caramel and black licorice. The brandy influence adds a sophisticated sweetness and a touch of aged grape. Bitterness is firm but balanced by a rich malt backbone. The finish is long and warming, evolving from sweet molasses to a dry, roasty aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the beer’s creaminess. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the high ABV without being sharp or solventy.
