This elevated American Porter presents a complex, spirit-forward profile derived from five years of rum barrel maturation and a decadent Imperial Stout blend. Deep layers of dark chocolate and espresso roast from black malt and chocolate malt harmonize with the evocative sweetness of molasses and toasted spice. The prolonged aging imparts a rich, vinous character alongside a noticeable, comforting alcoholic glow. While the roast remains central, the barrel influence introduces notes of charred oak and dark fruit. It finishes with a balanced, lingering bitterness and a velvety texture that emphasizes its robust 8.5% ABV and long cellar history.

Appearance. Very dark brown, approaching opaque black (38-40 SRM) with deep garnet highlights. Crowned by a dense, tan-colored head with persistent lacing and moderately good retention.

Aroma. High intensity of roasted grain, specifically dark chocolate and cold-brew coffee. Pronounced rum-soaked oak, molasses, and vanilla from the barrel aging. Subtle fruity esters reminiscent of dried plums, with a low earthy hop background and no acrid or sharp notes.

Taste. Initial impression of decadent chocolate and toffee, quickly followed by a moderately strong roasted malt profile. Five-year barrel aging contributes complex notes of dark sugar and spiced rum. Firm hop bitterness provides balance, leading to a medium-sweet, lingering finish that highlights both charred oak and roasted malts without an acidic bite.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a velvety, slightly viscous texture. Moderate carbonation provides lift, while a clear, well-integrated alcohol warmth spreads across the palate. Negligible dark malt astringency.
