This vibrant American Pale Ale, a collaboration with Chapter Brewing, presents a modern sensory profile built on a foundation of Extra Pale malt and wheat. The whirlpool addition of Motueka drives a bright citrus character of lime and tangerine, while a generous dry-hop of Cashmere layers in soft melon and tropical fruit notes. The result is an exceptionally drinkable beer that balances high hop intensity with a clean, supportive malt backbone. Despite its sessionable strength, it delivers a complex array of fruit-forward cues and a smooth texture, finishing crisp with a refined, lingering bitterness that maintains a refreshed palate.
Appearance. Pale gold (5-7 SRM) with a moderately large, frothy white head that shows good retention and fine lacing. Generally clear with a brilliant luster.
Aroma. Moderate to high hop intensity featuring distinct notes of tangerine, lime, and sweet melon. A low, clean, grainy-sweet malt character provides a neutral base, while fermentation esters are minimal and clean.
Taste. Flavor is hop-forward with zesty citrus and ripe melon leading the profile. A light, bready, and grainy malt character supports the hops without adding caramel sweetness. Bitterness is moderate and well-integrated, leading to a clean, medium-dry finish with a subtle, lingering fruitiness and no harsh aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation. The inclusion of wheat contributes a smooth, soft texture that enhances the drinkability, with no perceived alcohol warmth or astringency.
