RedWillow’s Heartless Nitro presents a sophisticated take on the Foreign Extra Stout, characterized by a luxuriant texture and deep complexity. The integration of Chocolate malts drives a sensory profile dominated by decadent dark chocolate and smooth roasted coffee. On the nose, high-intensity roast notes intermingle with subtle earthy undertones, while the nitro dispense enhances the velvety mouthfeel, softening the bold roasted bitterness. Despite its sessionable strength, it maintains the style's signature dry finish and robust character. The result is a beautifully balanced, drinkable stout that marries the intensity of dark grains with an exceptionally creamy, memorable delivery that lingers pleasantly on the palate.
Appearance. Opaque, very deep brown to midnight black. Features a dense, persistent, creamy tan head with a characteristic nitro-driven cascading effect and exceptional lacing.
Aroma. High roast intensity reminiscent of freshly ground coffee and bittersweet dark chocolate. Low earthy hop aromatics are present, alongside very faint dark fruit esters. Clean fermentation profile with no diacetyl.
Taste. Initial flavors of rich dark chocolate bitterness and smooth espresso. The mid-palate reveals toasted grain and a hint of molasses. Bitterness is medium-high but feels rounded. Finishes moderately dry with a lingering roasted malt character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with an exceptionally smooth, creamy, and luxuriant texture due to the nitrogenation. Carbonation is perceived as very low and fine. Negligible alcohol warmth.
